Hello, my name is Jennifer Swan and as a registered Mental Health Social Worker and Medicare Provider, I am able to assist people with individual counselling, organising community linkage and advocacy.  Please get in touch if you would like to book a counselling session or develop a group project. I am unable to provide assessments and reports, however I can provide support letters and assistance to access other services.

My family comes from Scotland and Wales and I have lived and worked in the Pulti / Port Adelaide region in unceded Kaurna Country since 2002. I have re-located my practice to Collingwood on unceded Wurundjeri Country. I am currently meeting with folks via Zoom or Phone.

Problems have long and complex histories, but finding creative ways to join together to resist their undermining effects, can help to stop these problems from continuing to dominate our lives. The work I do builds upon the work of many folks, communities and social movements. Unfortunately, I don’t have a magic wand, but I can explore with you about your skills and knowledge about your life. I can work alongside you so that you are able to get in touch with what is important to you and the web of relationships in your life.

I work from a position that 'the problem is the problem, not the person' as a way to strengthen peoples abilities to re-negotiate their relationship with the problems dominating their lives.  You can expect to be treated with kindness and respect and I really look forward to meeting you.

I work with folks navigating

• The effects of abuse, including anxiety, depression, trauma and isolation.

• Plurality and Dissociation. I work in ways that recognise and support people’s internal and external systems.

• Gender and sexuality based oppression

• Untangling the impacts of Normativity so you can get the support you need and take pride in who you are in all your beautiful uniqueness.

If you are unable to attend your session please notify my assistant at least 24 hours prior and we can reschedule.  If you do not attend your session, you will be charged for the session you booked. 

My assistant organises and books appointments. They only work a few hours per week, so it might take them a few days to get back to you…Don’t panic! As we work independently and don’t charge a gap fee for those with a concession card,we are unable to provide a full time assistant to respond to your enquiries.
